Transportation is important in every area of life.
Volunteer with the UCAP transportation program and make a real difference.
We are currently looking for volunteers in several areas throughout Southwest Minnesota:
Rider Companions
Help people stay independent longer by providing light-duty, non-medical assistance during transportation or at their destinations.
Volunteer Drivers
Take people to their destinations when public transit can’t. Volunteers throughout our service area use their own vehicle and receive a mileage reimbursement. In some areas, volunteers can also drive agency-owned vans and receive a stipend.
Travel Training
Learn all about transportation options in your area, then teach others how to use them.
Volunteer Forms & Information
If you would like to have someone contact you with more information about any of our volunteer opportunities, let us know what you’re interested in.
If you’ve decided to become a volunteer driver, please complete a New Volunteer Packet and turn it in at one of our offices.
New Volunteer Driver Orientation
United Community Action Partnership now offers online orientation for volunteers in our transportation program. This orientation should be started after you have completed the volunteer registration process. For information on becoming a volunteer, send us an email.
When you’ve finished all four modules, fill out a Volunteer Driver Manual Receipt Form (Online).
As people continue to get used to the “new normal” and UCAP is getting more requests for drivers, we want to make sure all are prepared to safely stay on the road. Drivers, after reading through this information, you must either set up a time to meet with our volunteer specialist or mobility administrator or complete the online training form. If you have questions, please contact Community Connection staff with questions at 507-537-7628 ext. 1119 or send us an email.
This checklist is for drivers using their own vehicles. If you are driving an agency van, staff will meet with you beforehand to go over the cleaning protocol.
