Transportation is important in every area of life. Volunteer with the UCAP transportation program and make a real difference.
Everyone needs transportation, but sometimes bus service is not the best solution. Our Community Connection program focuses on creating new transportation options for people who aren’t being served by current services. Volunteers are a critical to making other options possible. They allow people in our rural areas to access the medical services and social activities necessary to maintain a high quality of life.
UCAP needs people throughout Southwest Minnesota to volunteer as:
- Rider companions – help people stay independent longer by easing anxiety during transportation, helping them get from the vehicle to their specific destination, helping with light tasks at their destination.
- Volunteer drivers – Take people to their destinations when public transit can’t. Volunteers throughout our service area use their own vehicle and receive a mileage reimbursement. Beginning in 2019, volunteers in Lincoln County are also needed to drive our first wheelchair accessible volunteer van.
Let us know where you’d like to volunteer.
The staff at UCAP and countless people whose lives are impacted by volunteers are incredibly grateful for the time that is donated to get people where they need to go.
